Several sessions

Hello,

I'm using the UD Agent, but it only works on my session. How can I make it to automatically open in ALL sessions on my computer, with the same work unit?

Thanks.

Re: Several sessions

today is fathers day, so we give you what you want: Copy or Make a new UD Agent short cut and place it in the Autostart folder of the 'All Users' start-folder menu. Does not matter who logs on, it will load.

Re: Several sessions

Move the startup shortcut to the All Users startup folder.

Be aware that this causes problems if you use Fast User Switching.

Re: Several sessions

Thank you, but before you told me that, I re-installed quite a few times, which means some work units were never finished. Does it matter? Thanks again.

Re: Several sessions

Assuming all installs went to the same program folder C:\Program Files\WorldCommunityGrid\, all work unit have most likely been erased. You can check. Look for subfolders with the .dir extension. The one with the newest date is the job in progress. If you run multiple choice, you could have several of these folders, for each science project a different one.

The jobs you did not finish, expire automatically and are send in due time to someone else.

Do I lose points for that?

Re: Several sessions

Why would you loose points for work not completed? No there is no penalty for not completing work. You will simply be marked as a bad client and eventually will get very little work if too many go error or overdue. The limit could become like 1 or 2 per day until good work is returned.

(it's a white lie btw.... each new client install starts with a clean slate ;>)

Re: Several sessions

Okay thanks, but I have one more question...

Now that I've re-installed many times and even tried BOINC (before I asked for your help), well I have 4 devices in my Device Manager. But in fact, they are all the same computer and I only have one UD Agent on it. How can I erase the 3 bad ones? I can't find the function.

Re: Several sessions

U used up al your questions for today. You have to live with it till next fathers day, or until WCG is able to resolve this issue on the number 1 spot of the wish list.... at any rate all the unused devices disappear from the current view within 14 days.
