I get the following uncopyable error message:
"The Grid Agent has encountered a problem while attempting to connect to the Grid Server. This may occur if the Grid Server cannot find any suitable workunits for your Agent, because the Grid Server is offline for maintenance, or because computer is not online. If you are not online, please initiate a network connection at your convenience. The Agent will automatically communicate when the problem is solved." I am always online, Boinc is running fine on my computer, I have no firewall and no anti-virus protection running. I have a cable modem connected to a DLink router. The UD device was working fine up until a day or so ago. My UD projects are Help Cure Muscular Dystrophy (Available on United Devices only) and Human Proteome Folding 2. Restarting UD causes the same message. There is NO indication on the World Community web site that the server is offline for maintenance or that both projects are out of work. As I am most interested in the Muscular Dystrophy project, switching to Boinc (which I am already running anyway) is not an option. Furthermore, the WC Grid site no longer recognizes any of my devices nor any of my statistics. (I use firefox as a browser). So, I can't give you my device IDs. |

So many things to say!
----------------------------------------You say BOINC is running fine. Is this a typo, or are you running both, or have you merely tried BOINC in the past? Help Cure Muscular Dystrophy is coming to an end. If you are not getting work for the project, it is almost certainly because there is no work. You should be able to get HPF2 work, though. Since HCMD is coming to an end, you can switch to BOINC without losing anything, if you wish. The server was offline for maintenance earlier today (the standard Sunday scheduled maintenance window). It is conceivable that you ran into that, so trying again is the place to start. Your device ID is shown on the actual agent itself, on the configuration screen. Also, check the member name that is shown on the main screen - if it is different to the name you are logging onto the website with, then that would explain why you can't see your statistics. Also, if you are setting project choices for the wrong username, then it will be ignored by your agent. This may explain why you can't get HPF2 work. There's a lot of information to digest here, so please ask for clarification if I've left anything unclear. addendum: according to the statistics, you haven't returned a result under the "George C Sievers" name since April. Therefore, I am absolutely sure that you have a duplicate account, probably created by accident when you reinstalled the agent. I'm afraid it happens quite often. Boinc is running fine. I was running both.
I've had this problem for the last two days. I just rebooted to see if that would cure it. Agent Version is 3.0 (2844) Device Name: Georges Device ID: 602666 In April I had a disk crash and hadn't restarted any WC stuff till recently. I do not think I made a duplicate account but that seems like a reasonable explanation of my WC web site problems. My local UD says I have 3625 points while the web site says 800+ points. I didn't know the MD project was coming to an end. It is possible that it IS out of work. To save trouble, I'll just switch everything over to Boinc. |

Btw, I have discovered that I DO have two accounts. I will delete the "bad" one.

Sorry, you can't delete (or merge) accounts. You'll just have to abandon one.
If you want to keep the name with the least points, then you can rename both accounts so that the one with most points has the name you want. |
