Phase I of Help Cure Muscular Dystrophy has been going on for a few months but is now winding down. THERE MAY BE NO WORKUNITS LEFT. The scientists have some major program changes, but may launch HCMD phase II here next early in 2008. It's a guess, depending on what they want.
----------------------------------------In the meantime, I would advise selecting some other projects and gaining some experience with crunching the workunits. When HCMD Phase II comes along, you will be ready to go. Sooner than that, we should see some other new applications. Solutions can often be carried across from one disease to the other. What we learn at one place will be useful for the other. You are always free to check HCMD as long as it is there, in case something is added. Don't depend on only that one project. UD.EXE was the same program used at grid.org, with some modifications. It works in a serial manner, unless some add-ons are used. BOINC is a shell that will also handle other projects in other places, is newer, and more automatic and has better message documentation in case of problems. HCMD Phase I was only set up in the UD version due to time constraints, but we think it will be available in both BOINC and UD next year. We don't know how long UD will last since it is not being updated.
