I am experiencing extremely slow download speeds only from World
Community Grid. (5-6k a minute for 30-45 minutes followed by Unable to process task data. Backing off... message) This has occurred on the last 4 work units I've done and it is now occurring again. I am on a cable modem using Road Runner. Ive checked my speed using www.dslreports.com/stest and it indicates both upload and download speed is FAST. (665 kbps) This appears to me to be an ongoing problem with the servers at World Community Grid and needs to be fixed. I'll try a few more work units, but I'm really questioning whether it's worth the effort. There doesn't seem to be any official response and I'm getting frustrated. My system exceeds the "mimimum requirements". I am using Windows 98 SE on a 600 mhz Pentium III using a cable modem. There is nothing else running on the system. My firewall (Computer Associates EZ-Firewall) has been disabled. I've exited and restarted the WC Grid Agent. I've contacted WC Grid Technical support to no avail. I'm considering throwing in the towel if I can't get this problem resolved. Thanks in advance for any help. |

Are there any logs from your firewall which could be of use to try to track dwon where the problem is ?

In past threads, extremely slow downloads were caused by Internet security programs (antivirus as well as firewall). These showed up right from the start. I am assuming that this is not a new problem for you. By this, I mean that I do not think that the program used to run normally for you but has recently slowed down.
So just what Internet security programs (including version numbers) are you running?
