Well I saw the post about the first 1000 years - we past the mark a couple days ago so I figured I'd post about it as no one else has.
over 2100 years of computing time on this problem... I've read somewhere that this protocol uses the 'if you tell me something 3 times then I know it's true' rule... so I guess if you divide it up we only have about 700 years of 'honest results'. Still that's an amazing achievement. Anyone in a position of power feel like taking a look at the total data set and giving us some numbers as to the number of computers we'd need on the grid to finish the problem before the year is over? (go /.)! |

----------------------------------------You must have missed the thread http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=1361 in the "Teams" forum. The milestone wasn't missed. It would be interesting to hear a guesstimate about what it will take in resources to complete the project within the year, though. Welcome to the Forum nierd

Interesting; I haven't read that about the 3 times Rule.... Post a link to where it's at if you remember! If you think about stuff like the amount of PCs it going to take, you might enjoy digging the Global stats. (If not allready..) Welcome All you /.ers! Robert |

Robert http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=1256#5833 That's the post where it says grid computing is using the 'what I tell you three times rule'. Anyway - yeah I missed the thread in the teams area - I looked for it - but must have been blind :) Ahhh well. |

You're right -- no harm done. More likely the opposite would be true. I don't think we can celebrate the successes of the WCG project enough in the forums. |
