Usage of Environment variables in .msi files

The automatic installation of the Boinc client requires to fill some parameters. One is called INSTALLDIR.
We want to personalize the installation in order to have a different INSTALLDIR for each user that run the installation code.

How is it possible to use the Environment variable %USERNAME as part of the parameter INSTALLDIR?

Thanks

Re: Usage of Environment variables in .msi files

The current version of BOINC doesn't handle multi-user installs particularly well. Personally, I wouldn't risk it.

As for how to do it - that depends solely on how you run the installation. You can author a transform, or pass the parameter on the commandline. If the former, then you hopefully know what you are doing. If the latter, then the normal command prompt environment variable resolution rules apply.

What do you mean with "The current version of BOINC doesn't handle multi-user installs particularly well. Personally, I wouldn't risk it."?

The shared install doesn't work well or a multiple single install doesn't work?

We use a .msi file with all the installation parameter in it with a Single User as we are running the installation with User rights. It works!
