I want to get this project done before switching. I have only chosen the genome comparison project. Why is my cpu crunching for the HPF-thing?

Hi Grrahnbahr,
Which client are you running - UD or BOINC? What does My Grid - My Projects show? When did you start crunching HPF rather than GC? Lawrence |

I am running boinc. My projects are set at genome comparison, and it's checked for "If there is no work available for my computer for the projects I have selected above, please send me work from another project".
It have been probably been crunching for hpf2 for at least 4 hours. It's not REALLY important what project my computer is crunching for, but I like the option to choose... |

Hi Grrahnbahr,
Several days ago knreed had to shut down each project in turn and re-run the validator software to correct an error. During this time, people who only wanted that project but had checked 'if no work. . .' got another project. I have not seen any official notice today, but something similar might have happened overnight. For the moment, I am guessing that your next work unit will be back to GC. At least, I hope that's how things will go. Lawrence |

Lawrence,
----------------------------------------Several people have experienced that this last night. A shortage of GC WUs, maybe? Personally I have received one HPF2 at 20:58:26 which is still running, then a GC (with a new numbering pattern starting with 1500 instead of the usual 1000), then another HPF2 this morning at 09:41:44. The other people I mention are from team L'Alliance Francophone who report it on their forum both for Windows and Linux BOINC agents. Cheers. Jean. |

Someone running BOINC would have positively seen a message in the BOINC log to say such if GC was the sole preferred project! Suggest for Grrahnbahr to go back in the message tab log to the time that is entered in the task tab for the first HPF2 received. The entries should be just before it.

I got some messages. It said "No work can be sent for the project you have selected" "You have selected to recieve work from other projects" "sending work from other project"
I'm finished with one of the hpf2-packages in about 30 minutes (running with dual core, and two crunchers screen). Will see then what's happening. I'm going out for a while, so won't see until later... |

Great, as otherwise we'd have to file a bug report
----------------------------------------Got a GC at 11:37:37 CET, so it must have been the feeders running low or even the big suction on those due the restart of FAAH that prevented GC work to get in between.... nothing is perfect. Sekerob
