How to stop jagged movement of screensaver

Hello. I recently started using FightAids@Home and plan to install it on a number of computers I administer. Besides actually having it run, I want something that is visible and people know it's working. The graphics with the screensaver are alright, but I was hoping somebody had some tweaks. I tried searching these forums but didn't come across anything.

  • First of all, I don't like the way the graphic box moves around the screen. It moves very roughly. It seems it moves more than one pixel each step and it bothers my eyes. Is there someway to either make it move smoothly or not at all?
  • The picture isn't the prettiest either, but I think it would look a lot better if it was drawn at a decent refresh rate; at least 30 fps. Is there someway to do that?
  • Any other known tweaks, I would like to try out.

Thanks,
Devin Bayer

Re: How to stop jagged movement of screensaver

Personally, i think the Graphics of BOINC for the projects is superior, but as with the WCG agent version the fixed size frame hops around the screen, rather than sliding smoothly around when the window is maximized. Obviously the speed of the GPU and the resolution the screen is run at will impact the experience. The more fps, the more it's likely to eat into the actual science processing.

There are no known supported 'how to's' for spiffing it up. Tweaking the graphics carries the risk of impacting the science.... graphics interfacing with the science has caused more than a few problems and was in fact for HPF2 taken out of the Linux version, just to get it running stable.

As per the comment in the WCG v BOINC agent choice thread, any machine with 2 or more cores using the WCG agent will be severely underemployed.

So much has been said about the aged WCG(UD made) agent, that I see no point in rehashing this again.
