Re: Team Discovery - The Community Crunchin' For Cures

No problem, Livvy (also olivia/Elaine) will know.
Nice to meet you as a lady
- and thanks for letting me know before I fall in love with you
blushing well, it happened to me in the old UD days - oh, it was soooo embarrassing blushing blushing blushing
- one kind of takes it for granted that another one is a man, because we are so few women (I think - but I don't know)
Actually, your style came across a little different: joyful, good-spirited, open - and I thought: Whauw, that kind of men exists!
So you like my ecclectic music, thank you
- I do, too, I must admit; actually I meet very little I don't like. Thats why ....
As of late, the Base Campers and one Edwardian have pitched in, making it more exciting.
Is there something in particular you would suggest for us to play?
Some favorite piece? We would love to include it as a kind of souvenir.
Could I call you something else instead of bjbdbest, please? I have to look and spell, and nevertheless
I experience severe "synaptic turbulence"
- an expression I picked up from one who is dear to me -
when I write your name.
he-he, don't take it personally, but I know you know I defected and you know I know
- but I'll come and talk if that's OK?

Re: Team Discovery - The Community Crunchin' For Cures

Sure...c'mon by whenever you like...company always welcome. smile
Hard to keep up with your copious posts elsewhere. In the fairy tale, little mermaid lost her tongue devilish
You seem quite perceptive when it comes to reading others. May I venture a guess that writing is more
than a hobby with you? I realize that you are 'fishing' for Base Campers but although a lurker I prefer to
stay at home @ the Disco. (team grounds).
Hope that is not off-putting and that you will still come to chat.
"I know you know I defected and you know I know
- but I'll come and talk if that's OK?"
...LOL! That's a mouthful!
I love graphics, poetry and music oldies (Hello Mellow) love struck
Just came across Time of My Life from a movie that takes me back to more youthful days.
- A souvenir if you like smile
Happy Crunching!
Beverly

Thank you. I think the name that fits and doesn't cause circuit breaks would be BeverlyBest.
Yes, I'm awfully verbose, I know. Sorry. Parents, teachers, you name it have tried applying brakes to no avail.
You are good at reading others yourself.
Yes, I did venture out in a manuscript upon separating from my husband of 40 years -
at first mainly a therapeutic measure full of grumbling and frowning and bad karma in general,
but soon it turned into something funny more or less by itself. So that's what I call therapeutic writing.
I may return to it at a later time. Right now I just cannot get enough of this.
Yes, you are right, The Little Mermaid suffered all kinds of torments to get to the prince she loved so dearly
including having her beautiful voice silenced. Her tail was split so she could have legs,
but every step was like a deep cut of a knife for her.
You know your Hans Christian Andersen very well, Beverly.
In my former incarnation in the UD days I was the ugly duckling - and I never turned into that beautiful swan.
And my tongue is still in place devilish
You may say I'm fishing for Base Campers, but it cannot really be done. People have to want it themselves.
I think I try to get to know people, because people are interesting, and they all have a story.
I think I did it this way all the time, and as time went by, a wonderful Motley Crew of dedicated crunchers have found each other.
And I love them.
No, it's not off-putting at all any of what you say.
Do you know what? "Time of My Life" is in the Base Camp 1 playlist already.
May I suggest:
You Are the One that I Want
instead?
Or - if you don't care for that one - please suggest another one that you like better.
As for graphics - I love the things you put up here. Charming and to the point, they are. I could never do it as well.
Poetry?
At an early point of Hexagaming poetry was an item, and at "N" deltavee referred to a poem I liked a lot and saved:

Now Sleeps the Crimson Petal
Alfred, Lord Tennyson
Now sleeps the crimson petal, now the white;
Nor waves the cypress in the palace walk;
Nor winks the gold fin in the porphyry font:
The firefly wakens: waken thou with me.

Now droops the milkwhite peacock like a ghost,
And like a ghost she glimmers on to me.

Now lies the Earth all Danae to the stars,
And all thy heart lies open unto me.

Now slides the silent meteor on, and leaves
A shining furrow, as thy thoughts in me.

Now folds the lily all her sweetness up,
And slips into the bosom of the lake:
So fold thyself, my dearest, thou, and slip
Into my bosom and be lost in me.

Re: Team Discovery - The Community Crunchin' For Cures

Ah, yes...Great pick from "Grease" and the poem is beautiful! rose
Poetry has always been a means of expression for me and although it's been awhile since I've written my last one,
it's a comfort to know that pen and paper are there when needed.
On a different theme - one of my favorites is:

"Invictus" by William Ernest Henley

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll.
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

Grease be it, Beverly. Included in what will be Base Camp playlist 3.
I like the poem you quote very much.
How come, so much can be expressed in so few lines?
So you write poetry yourself.
Have you had any published?
Would you care to post one for us?

Hello, lilhurricane (lots of lil' ones inclusive of littlepeaks)
- thank you for your welcome
Now I'm ever so embarrassed - you having done so much out of welcoming me, and me jumping off the team again in a jiffy
blushing
What should I do? Fill in the required info and - when I may need a new home - take up residence for one day, one week, one month?
Can you live with that?
With those eyelashes you have to be a woman -
I learned my lesson now which is: Don't take anything for granted smile

Hello, BevBest, perhaps you're lurking biggrin
