a bug??

I have the agent installed on my desktop and my laptop. Today my laptop finished it's first WU and then popped up with the login dialog that displays when you first install the agent. Now there are three devices listed in the device manager (2 with the same name) and I never received any points for the WU. I hope the hours it took to complete that wu weren't wasted and the data lost! Also, I had the laptop running on a separate profile and was reset to default when it completed the wu. I'm confused! This doesn't seem like intended behaviour. Has anyone had this happen to them?

Well, it sounds as though you did at least a partial reinstall on your laptop. That would automatically create a new device name for your laptop, using the default profile. You can always go to the website, click on the current device name to get to the device configuration page for that device and then click on the drop down menu and reassign your preferred profile. It will be downloaded to your laptop with the next work unit. [Things work this way so that nobody can fool with your device profile unless they have your password. It is cumbersome but it prevents practical jokes.]

The real question is - - what went wrong the first time? Should you try a complete uninstall / reinstall? Is this caused by one of your Internet security programs?

Did you never recieve any points on the agent installed on your computer, or did it say on the webpage, that you ahve 0 points? It does take 24 hourse for the points to be updated. If that was the problem, then you can check if the points have been updated now.

Oh!! Heavens. Where have you been? Hasn't the customer support double speak killed this phrase yet? This is not a bug but an unpaid for freebe, a free design feature, an intentional implementation feature over looked during requirements definition and design. How many other programs can you get with a self wiping feature? Toliet roll anyone? biggrin

cool Re: a bug??

Don't forget that sometimes a work unit can be abandoned from some unknown reason, it may have been corrupt, it processed it wrong, or something... you never really exactly know... however, you do have to remember about the lagtime between updates with the points... cool
