I think it would be really useful if the screen saver displayed the current time. It doesn't seem like it would take up too much cpu time or be too tricky to implement, yet it would add soooo much more functionality. Just a thought.

You do have a point, however, the screen saver isn't exactly efficient with the clock cycles, cuz it has to allocate some cycles to displaying stuff, therefore, the crunchins slows down a bit, basically not as efficient. I do have sonething to add however. A future version of the grid agent should have a button about the cpu; specifically about controllinghow much of the cpu is used by the grid agent, like a slider from 0% to 100%, if you know what I mean, and also, have a bar that goes up and down telling you what the cpu temperature is, if there is a temperature sensor in the comp, and the bar should have a green and red section, the red section being critical heat level... if you know what I mean, I just want to know what the cpu's status is when crunching, i don't want it to overheat... lol

Actually, it is quite possible to disable the visuals of the screen saver:
http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/join_now/ru...software.html#screenSaver The current time suggestion, like other agent-related suggestions, are not within our realm of control, but rather a function of the UD software. Your CPU suggestion has been noted. As you know, we have a lengthy queue of excellent suggestions which we are considering. Keep them coming! --Lilac |

UD? So who would I have to send my suggestion to?

United Devices is the company whose agent is used in World Community Grid. There are a number of suggestions to their agent that have been made. The significance of this being a UD agent request is that we, at IBM, cannot make that change ourselves, and therefore it is less likely that it will occur.
