Logging on

I registered a few days ago and selected my user name, accepted, and the password, verified.

I then tried to proceed, only to get the message that my password did not match the record.

I went for password retrieval and got back the password I had entered.

I also ticked 'remember me'.

Now, every time that I boot up I get the log on window with my name, not user name, with the particulars required to entered, yet again.

I tried to respond to the email address shown, only to get the reply

I have not been able to get to the stage of running anything. I signed up for the AIDS prog.

Is there any way around this obstacle?

Re: Logging on

Possible you had your browser store wrong info. Make it wipe the private info / stored passwords, than log on again. It should ask you if it's okay to archive the username / password.

I doubt the automatic password retrieval email is one you can respond to. Use the support@worldcommunitygrid.org address.

You are posting, so that is the username and password to use to register the devices..... snoekie & password.

Thanks, but I don't know how to do that.

I take your point about posting on the forum. Curious isn't it.

Re: Logging on

What browser?

IE6:
IE7: Extra (preferences) > Internet Options > General > a button: "Delete"
FFX2: Options > Privacy > a button "Wipe Now"

Re: Logging on

snoekie, there seems to be a misunderstanding here. I think you are talking about the UD registration screen.

What you need to do is put your username (snoekie) and the password you used to log into the website into the relevant boxes. Also check the box that says "existing member".

Please let us know how you get on.

Re: Logging on

Serekob, about the browser, I was repeating your words

I use netscape as a browser. I think I did not ask for a card for the site, offer to remember.

Didactylos, yes I am a UD refugee, but I have removed it (UD agent) from my computer, and the box that comes up is the World Community Grid registration agent.

If knew how to copy the screen, I would to display here, such is the extent of my knowledge. I was told a year or two (or more) back, but those grey cells are in hiding!

Would that I could add my weight to the search.

Thanks for the attention.....

Re: Logging on

Snoekie,

start to think you are another victim of some legacy information left by the uninstalled grid agent interfering with the WCG version. This has been reported by several ex-grorg. The easy solution some took was to migrate to BOINC.

This page http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/ms/viewThankYouUDWin.do shows the sign on screen for WCG. Do you get that?

Here's a post how to make a screenprint, store it at a provider and past it in a forum post: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=8344

Re: Logging on

snoekie, that's what I meant - the WCG UD agent, not the grid.org UD agent. Both from UD - confusing, isn't it?

Anyway, if my advice doesn't work, try Sekerob's. BOINC is better anyway!

Re: Logging on

Serekob & Didactylos, thanks for the assist.

I have three wcg agents(exe,1.exe and 2.exe), all incomplete, so I downloaded boinc, and have been looking to how to get work.

At the time of typing, now dictating, WCG is busy analysing the statistics, and message I get all too frequently when I try and investigate further.

In this particular instance, it appears to be three steps forward two steps back.

I will persevere for a while yet.............................!
