The Germans did not get out of Belgium, so today in 1914 Britain started to prepare for "else."

1998: US embassies in Africa bombed

At least 200 people are killed and many more injured when US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania are bombed within minutes of each other.

The United States Congress overwhelming approves the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution,
giving President Lyndon B. Johnson nearly unlimited powers to oppose "communist aggression" in Southeast Asia.
The resolution marked the beginning of an expanded military role for the United States
in the Cold War battlefields of Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia.
