Looks like IBM has started all their machines up after the festive period:
IBM Corporation 6,480,720 Slashdot Users 5,187,153 so the /.ers have some catching up to do again! (Of course if you want to help another team get to #1, see my sig ) |

Idunno guys, you don't think it's going to get kind of boring after being #1 for awhile? I'd almost consider abandoning the /. team to join another -- it's the competition for the first place that I'll bet keeps a lot of people plugging away at it. If I were on some other team right now I'd maybe get bored and disband after a week or two (note: that's not a suggestion, that's what a weak-willed person like myself would do)...*cough* a little competition adds spice and fuel in this case -- do we really want to remain blowing it out of the water. Sure it'll be nice to hover around this spot for maybe a week or two...but then it'll just get boring. Any ideas? A. I'd almost enjoy watching us get further and further out of the reach of the other teams week after week, kind of a /. pride type thing, seeing the immense power a tech blog carries. B. If IBM would get together they might provide some competition. C. I'd love to see other teams combine to try and take us on, Slashdot vs. The World. Honestly, I keep plugging away at it because it is going towards a good cause, as much as I do love seeing the Slashdot team rape and pillage. |

CHEERS!!!!!!! teehee. We beat IBM at their own game How would the /.'ers like to try beating Canada at our game. We challenge you to a game of ice hockey! Muahahaha ![]() Oh it's on. Playing hockey against a team of /.'ers would entail a bit more than you'd think...we'd be sporting hydrogen-propelled skates, ultra-light carbon-nano-fiber padding and sticks, and our helmets would have built in Augmented Reality systems pointing us to the puck location at all times and telling us the proper angle and force to hit the puck with -- not to mention we'd tag you all with GPS chips for the builtin rink-map we'd have on the AR sets too...you guys are toast. ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Jan 5, 2005 1:49:03 AM] |

Wait till we drop the gloves..... ![]() good call. Even with the carbon-nano-fiber padding, the shock absorption induced by a punch would be inadequate for our pain thresholds most likely. Give us some ear-phones pumping techno and donate a few bottles of some of your Canadian brews, and it'd be a pretty even match. ![]() |
