Can you give us any more information?
What version of BOINC? How much disk space do you have? How much is free? In the advanced view there is a disk space tab. Can you post a screenshot of it? Thanks. |

Hey Ron,
----------------------------------------Unfortunately, for BOINC your 96mb Ram would only be able to run Genome Comparison. If you visit My Grid > My Projects, you can change the selection. sorry

Yes, the best way to "expidite" any profile changes you make is to click on the Update button in BOINC after you've made your profile updates, then wait until the "Communication deferred" time runs out and click it again. The first update should pick up your profile changes and the second will "kick the tires".

I am having problems with the Linux BOINC.
----------------------------------------It runs fine, but produces problems with the SSL CA cert. I first tried the sh installer version (v5.8) and after failing used the CA from this forum. After it still produces the same results I downloaded the pre-compiled client and manager from Debian's site (v5.4 client) and am still receiving the error. I just found out about this project and want to dedicate most of my Linux machine's CPU cycles to it! Please respond asap! I am a computer Tech with expert knowledge of windows systems however I am still learning Linux so please be kind to me! I am running Debian v4.0 with KDE 3.5 logged in as root, currently using the v5.4 client (first attempted with the v5.8 client but tried downgrading to the v5.4 because it was suggested to do so if having problems with the v5.8 client) Machine is a Celeron 2.5G, 256MB ram, 40GB HDD (about 30GB free), it is used for basic web hosting and not much else. If anyone can suggest multiple solutions that I can try I will try them, again I am very enthusiastic about getting this running on my Linux PC (I have a windows PC that is running the client 100% fine). Thanks in advance for the help! -Steve [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at May 1, 2007 3:37:43 AM] |

Some BOINC builds are missing a file called ca-bundle.crt
I suggest you try extracting it from the official package, and copy it to the same directory as the Debian boinc.exe |

It runs fine, but produces problems with the SSL CA cert. Check your date/time to see whether they are current. If the due date for the workunit turns out to be a couple of years ago, your certificate will get very confused since the work it is supposed to be sent in before the certificate was ever issued in the future. When a cold boot lost my date/time, that's the only time I ever had any certificate problems myself.
