Yes Kate... Uninstall the the WCG agent, Download BOINC, then install it and follow directions... You'll have to provide WCG's URL address, then when it connects to WCG enter your login ID and Password... It will probably tell you it failed to attach, but ignore that... It should begin to download work shortly. If you should have any problems Let us know here and someone will help you...

Each agent (software) has to have its own name so when the project sends a WU to you it knows which agent to send it too, and when you send a result the project knows which agent it came from..Thats when you register the agent (agent name), use the same user name so all your points will go to the same account..

if the agent (software) on your computers is the same you were using at UD grid, then yes you need to remove it because its not the same agent that WCG uses..

The UD agent (software) doesn't download more than one WU at a time without using a thrid party software like UD monitor. It will look a lot like the agent you were using at UD grid and that might be helpful for you. When you send a WU back to WCG the WU is applied to your credit at the next update.

The boinc agent will download as many days worth of WUs as you have set it the boinc preferences. When you send a WU back to WCG it is held until the same WU is turned in by 2 other people. so it can be verified, (which can take a few days at times) before you get credit for it. The boinc agent does seem to give more credit per WU.

Hope that helps..

Re: The Edwardians have arrived!

Many thanks TLD!!

No, it not same as the UD Agent used at UD, I dowloaded the WCG UD one

My questions are :
1. Should I uninstall the ones in my two pcs and install the Boing one ?

2. How to register the other ones ,

3. I would rather have all under just one name, Jean Pierre. will I loose all my points with that

Jean Pierre. is at 4.522 points and ending now
Jean Pierre.1 at at 6.430 and at 54 % , those are the names of my pcs , not of my devices

Apologize but I am lost , not a tech in this and can´t express well myself

At the grid I used to have a mod to fix this giving my user and passsword names ..

I also want do use my other two pc´s tired

Thanks again TLD

They both work, but you may feel more comfortable with the UD agent as you have run it before. if you are not concerned about having extra WUs on hand or getting a some extra points stick with the UD agent.

2. How to register the other ones ,

Download the UD device (software) or boinc. If you do the UD device just install the device software restart your computer and the registration form will come up tick the box that you are an (existing user) put in your user name and password (you used when you registered with WCG) and you should be good to go.

If you decide to use boinc download boinc and install the software restart your computer and boinc should start. At the bottom of the boinc device click on (advanced view) then click on the (tools tab) and (attach to project) a little box will pop up click the next button, tick the (existing user) box put this ulr in the space on the box (http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org) click (attach) then another box will come up, put your user name and password (you used when you registered with WCG) in and click next.

Re: The Edwardians have arrived!

Been a while sense installed these the registration may pop up right after you install. Just follow the rest of the instructions then instead of after the restart..

I'm not sure about losing the points if you change the name on the account, i think you will unless there is a way to merge the accounts.

Just thought of something JP at the top of this page there is a button to (My Grid) click that then on the left side of the page that comes up there is a link called (Device Manager) click that and it will show the computers on your account if both the ones already running are there then you are getting all your points on the same account. the computers will show up after they have returned a result that has been credited.

Re: The Edwardians have arrived!

In gratitude to JP for helping with the econ issue, I would like to give Scribe his devil back.

And to reduce the massive line needed to make 3:

Then to add the personal touch:

I wouldnt link to them in post from here though. I dont know how long I can host them. So for the sake of having to go back and do what could be seen as a nightmare fix, find a good spot to host them at and release the addy. I'll pick it up and add it to the smilypad thread im making.

Hi JP,

I see where the problem lies here - you have registered twice at WCG according to the Team List - once as Jean Pierre. and again as Jean Pierre.1 - this means you have 2 accounts here. Unfortunately you will not be able to merge them - but the points already accrued will stay with The Edwardians.

What you need to do is un-attach the client that is using the Jean Pierre.1 account details and re-attach again using the Jean Pierre. account .

Then follow TLD's instructions for attaching your 2 new machines and then all 4 will be running under the same account.

I hope this helps, Ady smile

Edit: You ask about Boinc v UD Client - personally I would use Boinc every time as it is far more flexible - but if you feel more at home with the UD client, then stick with it.

Whichever way you go, remember as TLD said to check the 'existing user' option when installing and input your 'Jean Pierre.'
username/password otherwise you will end up creating another account.
