Grid.org put out a uninstall page including registry editing instructions and waivers (very poorly designed uninstall). Already copied the whole instruction to a WCG forum post in case they shut down their web page too... expect anything :O

should i just wait for some updated grid software version to download to my vista machine?
i'm not too knowledgeable about firewalls, and windows defenders, but it would seem to me if they want everyday computers to use it, they wouldn't put you through this much hassle to figure out how to fix it. It should be just Install & Forget. For the record my Sign In Screen appears, and then just hangs. Guess I'll try again in a few months. best wishes. |

Sorry, WCG have nothing to do with grid.org. You have to uninstall the grid.org software, then, if you want, you can install the WCG software.

Hi danv96, There's a Vista knowlege post in the Start Here forum with 3 common nd relative simple solutions one of them being a quick re-install and disabling Windows Defender (very poorly rated in comparative tests). Let us know and we talk you thru.... the WCG(UD) agent is not likely updated anytime soon. Your alternate is the much superior, but slightly more involved BOINC agent.... virtually same graphics screens with a simple view for the set and forget. cheers

Hi danv96,
Be adventurous! Try moving over to BOINC: http://www.wcgwiki.org/en/boinc/migration.cfm Just be sure to install in C:\BOINC because Vista security keeps programs installed in C:\Program Files from writing to their check point files. Lawrence |
