Installed my Opteron 165 x2's this past week. Got Boinc running for WCG last night. However, when I look at CPU usage under task manager, both cpus are alternately spiking up to 75% usage and dropping back to 25%... constantly, every split second. Looks like the EKG for twins on crack.
This seems wrong. My system is watercooled so I'm not worried about heat. Anyone know if this is how it's supposed to be and - if not - how to fix it? OS is Win2k. |

Hi,
----------------------------------------If you visit the My Grid > Device Manager > Device Profile and select the Default BOINC profile, you are likely running on 'Minimum Impact' profile which uses 60% CPU resource. This means on 1 core it runs 3 seconds and pauses 2. On 2 cores it looks more random as one will resume whilst the other goes into pause. You can change this behavior by selecting the custom profile and change: Use no more than: 100 % of processor time. Save this, than go to the BOINC client, Project Tab, select the WCG project and hit the Update button in the left margin to copy the change to the PC. Let us know if the system went cold turkey cheers PS not sure if you have run BOINC in Simple View, but you need switching to Advanced View to see the Projects Tab.
