How do you think the future of the Apple TV will unfold? I am considering purchasing one, based only on the possibility of dramatic updates to increase the functionality of the box. Currentally I think that for its purpose, Apple TV is great, I just already have an ipod and dock connector.

http://www.apple.com/appletv/ Looks dumb. Only content from iTunes can be streamed? Stupid Apple. But of course - Apple is all about DRM. ![]() Edit: MS is joining the DRM crowd too: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trusted_computin...cism_of_trusted_computing [Edit 2 times, last edit by Former Member at Apr 3, 2007 8:56:44 PM] |

After Apple's deal with EMI, iTunes will begin offering DRM-free purchases. Granted, it costs a little more (the standard $0.99 vs. DRM-free 1.29), but the songs are also higher quality.

I like Pandora, use occasionally it via launch cast, but I would still like to have music on my computer and on a portable device when not connected to the internet.

Funny
----------------------------------------![]() An anonymous reader wrote with a link to a Wired story about a fun play-along-at-home project: Turning Apple TV into a very tiny workable computer . "Apple TV is dead, long live the Mac Nano. Sort of. Just two weeks after Apple released its streaming media box to the public, hackers successfully installed OS X, Apple's desktop operating system, on the $300 device, making it the cheapest PC Cupertino has ever sold. 'The breakthrough is done, OS X runs on Apple TV!' wrote Semthex, the anonymous hacker responsible for the mod, at his website. 'Now we got (the) low-budget Mac we ever wanted.'"
