I recommend UD because you can run it in a screensaver only mode where there is nothing running in the background.
This makes it easy to have it run on Windows when nobody is logged in and it doesn't take up any resources when you are using your computer. BOINC can be installed in several ways, but none of them are the simple screensaver only mode. If you want graphics when nobody is logged in your need to run as the daemon and manually go to services.msc and change the authentication parameters of the service. But setting up UD is as easy as any screensaver. No daemons, startup programs, or additional configuration nessesary. |

Anything having 2 or more and idle cycles left unused will increase steeply. Default 60% use on 1 core means that 70% remains unused on a dual core and 85% on a quad.
