Website typo? Help > Points vs Credits//PC Stats

http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/help/viewTopic.do?shortName=points#27

Your PC contribution is shown in three measures-points, total run time and results returned.

The first time that I read it, I couldn't find the 3rd measure.. Then I realized that the dash "-" was separating points and measures, and had read it as "three measure(s)-points; total run time and results returned."

I think it should be "Your PC contribution is shown in three measures: points, total run time, and results returned."
===
Also, this points/credit thing confuses me. And someone tell me the difference?

Does WCG intentionally hide stats of user's PCs?

I think it should read "Your PC contribution is shown in three measures — points, total run time and results returned." As you say, a colon would be clearer.

Points/credit is simply a fair measure of work done.

Yes, WCG intentionally hide host data. It's a privacy thing.

Can you explain the difference between credit and points? Why ?BOINC?/WCG doesn't list points per work unit...

Notice my inserted comma.

Also, speaking of hosts.. What's the difference between host and user? Confuse me in Advanced View > Stats > User/Host choices..

Re: Website typo? Help > Points vs Credits//PC Stats

Just different words for the same thing.

However.... UD and BOINC use different credit systems and credit calculations. WCG use the UD system, because WCG started out with UD. BOINC credit is adjusted to approximately equate to UD credit. That is the credit you see listed on the website.

The amount of credit varies per work unit. It is impossible (usually) to work out how much work is in a work unit until it is worked out. Computer scientists call this "non deterministic".

How come we can't know points per WU?
And from what you've said, credits and points are directly related to each other? Why not just have 1 metric of work then?

Re: Website typo? Help > Points vs Credits//PC Stats

I said credit and points are just different words for the same thing. It's confusing, because credit is named different things in different places.

BOINC calls it "credit" or "work done"
UD calls it "points"

The BOINC system lets you see the credit you were granted for a work unit. The UD system doesn't, simply because it doesn't have any sort of work unit history you can look at.

So who keeps up the BOINC results database? BOINC or WCG?

WCG.

BOINC just develop the software. They don't run any servers themselves.

If WCG is expending resources to host BOINCish data, why don't they for UD data?

Also, speaking of hosts.. What's the difference between host and user? Confuse me in Advanced View > Stats > User/Host choices..
