Hy there,
I have at the office a problem with the connetivity between the boinc programm (WCG) running hpf2 on windows xp and the requested server in the internet zone. due to security guidelines, I was only able to deposit the boinc programm at my selected order and run it from there. I have only internet network connection email and internet explorer (http browsing). Now my question: It is possible to retrieve working units by email or (http) browser and deposit them to my selected order? Can I then run the software and let it calculate? How do I exchange the results with the server? Thanks in advance from cologne germany bodo |

The connection between your client and the WCG server is secure and encrypted, so sending work units back and forth via email or http is not possible.

Hy,
thanks for your answer, but this doesn't fit my question. Can I receive the necessary units by email or through my browser? My boinc program won't get access to the internet network, I fear. Any ideas? Can I download any work units (as files) to let them calculate on my pc? How can I then send them back (as files)? |

No emailing or other non-standard distribution. Only solution is to operate in Sneakernet mode. Find posts on that subject.
----------------------------------------BOINC and UD agent use ports 80 and 443 which is in browser terms HTTP and HTTPS. If those 2 are enabled you should be fine.
