Hi, I just tried to install the BOINC agent, and received an error message _
Error 1401 cannot create key HKEY-USERS\S-1-5-21.......|software\classes Any ideas? I had similar messages when installing the UD agent, but it seemed to install anyway. Thanks, Jeff |

Are you installing as an administrator type account? It sounds like a permissions problem.

Hello geophre,
Better tell us about your operating system. You are trying to do something that the security permissions do not allow. Lawrence |

My OS is Windows XP home sp2. There is only my account, so it is administrator by default. I've tried turning off my antivirus program while installing, but it didn't help.

Are you installing for all users, or just the current user?
Try a service installation. That's the best option anyway. |

Tried a service installation, same error message. Maybe there's a problem with my Windows registry.

Problem resolved. Used regedit to change the permissions on the
/software/classes folder, and no error message after that. Thanks for the ideas anyway, Jeff |
