Hi guys ! I'm new to all this, jumped on the Slashdot bandwagon like much people. I think that Tasadar's idea is pretty good and timely. Why ?
According to daily stats on 01/02/2005 06:00:02 (UTC) : - Slashdot Users generated roughly as many points than the top 16 IBM teams on this topic, combined ; - Slashdot Users accumulated roughly as much run time than the top 17 IBM teams on this topic, combined ; - Slashdot Users have returned 37% more results than the top 18 IBM teams on this topic, combined. You may verify this and come to midly different numbers but I guess you get the point ;) It might be interesting to some people to spice things up a little bit, and that might help to attract more people to this project. The Slashdot Users team will quickly dominate all global statistics in here if no consolidation occurs from other teams and hence the "friendly competition" factor the Teams concept generate might unfortunately become pretty irrelevant after some time. There's no doubt that some people will go from Slashdot to other teams but I think most people will stick around ( mainly out of inertia or "geek pride" ;) ). So there's an interesting challenge, what do you think ? Is it worth it ? Sorry for the sloppy English btw, I'm French-Canadian astie :) |

It's time for all the IBM's to combine in to one team while the momentum from /. is still there.
