I've added a bunch of machines to my account, however, some of them I ended up renaming due to network organization. Will the website automatically detect that and update the website with the new name, but still adding points to that "host" or "mac-address"? Will there be an update to the website where regardless the computer name, we will be able to make a name for the host just for organizational purposes on the website? Just an idea, and any feedback is appreciated. Thanks

With BOINC, changing the name of the machine in the OS will, on first contact of the agent on those machines, rename all records for those devices on the website / result status pages. Key is the BOINC device (Computer) ID of 5 or 6 digits, which should have remained unchanged.
----------------------------------------Be aware that if you reinstall BOINC a new device is created on the website. PResently we have no facility to 'merge' old an ew Device ID's. cheers

For the UD.EXE version, devices may simply be renamed. BOINC is a little more complicated since it picks up the name of your computer and may have a strange looking default name if computer names are the same.
----------------------------------------In any event, the names of all devices for a membername must be unique. Change the picklist to all devices ever registered and all devices ever returning work to see all devices. It will pick up the new name after the next workunit is returned.

So basically what you are telling me is that if I rename a device, and reload the Boinc Manager, it will reread the device name and on next update, should change it on the website. Or are you telling me that I must manually edit the XML document with the domain name?

Or are you telling me that I must manually edit the XML document with the domain name? Where in this thread does anyone mention editing any xml file... you're on your own here? The OS has given your computer a name, seen in e.g. the Windows System Control Panel's 'Computer Name' tab. That same name is used by BOINC. Change the computer name, boot, restart BOINC and it will change it for you on the website after first contact. Added: Editing the file that holds the device / domain name would be a temporary fix. On first project refresh it's likely overwritten by the OS computer name again.

I did what you suggested for that of Windows, and it worked properly. However, do you know what to do in the case of Linux? Boinc seemed to have ignored the hostname change on Linux altogether.

What is it showing on WCG and do you recognise it as anything particular? Some have reported to find their ISP's reference in the device name place on WCG, though it working for Windows, minimizes that chance here.
----------------------------------------Think to have seen a post here how to do it for Linux. Something with having to set up a 'Hostname' in the HOSTS file like 192.xxx.xxx.001 KyleTOO 127.0.0.1 localhost The IP needs to be static for it to work. With DHCP it's a bit more involved. There are experienced Linux users here to point the proper way.

Yeah, it's just showing localhost.localdomain, even though the hostname is Kyle.local. I'm looking into your DHCP vs. Static, since I am in fact DHCP at the moment.

So the issue was actually easily resolved. I was looking through the Fedora GUI and found that there is this optional field to input a Hostname for DHCP under the Network Dialog. I did that, rebooted and Boinc immediately picked up the Hostname. Thanks for your help though, really appreciated it :)
