Welcome Slashdotters and thanks for taking us to #1 in member count. I've enjoyed reading through the first handful of comments on Slashdot with respect to weak client support and other "enhancements" that IBM / UD / WCG need to consider. You'll see a lot of similar comments here in the WCG forums. Hopefully at least a handful of them will be implemented soon - especially the offer to have a handful of slashdotters take a stab at nailing down a *nix client ASAP. After running the current Windows clients for a few days, you'll figure out on your own several of the inherent shortcomings it has, as well (also documented ad nauseum here in the forums).

Thanks again for shooting us up to #1 (member count) and let's hope to see some great strides over the next few weeks in getting the points, results and other areas popped up, as well.

ya, the slashdot effect can be one of the easiest ways to get a DDoS for people with unprepared servers. I was one of many who should come as part of a massive influx today...we're going to do some overtaking pretty soon.
