Hello aal,
There are 2 places to check your projects. First is My Grid - My Projects. Second is My Grid - Device Manager - Device Profiles. If either selects a project that you no longer want, then uncheck it. Lawrence |

Hello aal,
The first thing is to give us more information. What projects have you selected? Have you chosen to accept other projects if no work is available? Are you enrollede in the Beta projects. Next, which projects do you actually run? Is there any difference between the projects running under Linux and under Windows XP? Do you have the same BOINC profile for both Windows XP and Linux? Which is it - Home, School or Work? Lawrence |

Lawrence thanks for telling me the info u need I wasnt sure and, didnt want to send a bunch of noise. here you go: I run it at home, though my laptop is one of the systems and it may connect from different locations rarely. The only difference between Linux and windows is that my Linux system has more space allotted for it's bigger hdd. The same single project is selected and does not run on either. I do not have the option to accept other projects when mine has no work. I just noticed the separate BOINC dev profiles on the bottom. I created a new profile for home set it to default and it will not change from "all projects". The default BOINC device profile will not keep changes I set. It always has "all projects" selected. I have been editing the default United devices profile instead. I unselected "Set as Default " for the home profile and it saved the project selections. It has not been long enough to see if it will now pull down the right WU. I will let you know on this. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. On another WCG issue: I now have different profiles set for each system. (Home-laptop, Work-Desktop) I set my Desktop to leave processes in memory since it has alot of ram and I noticed the most recent work unit reports a computation error. My research on the same error with Rosetta has pointed to the removal from memory as the cause for the error. If you see another cause for this, let me know. Is this perhaps an error only connected to some WCG projects? [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Mar 11, 2007 5:09:12 PM] |

Hello aal,
You are correct. It is very dangerous to remove a program from memory. If you have enough virtual memory (swap file space for Linux) you should always leave it in memory. The only problem is that if you enroll in a large number of projects, you could end up with many programs clogging up your memory. It is a good practice to use a named BOINC profile other than Default. Just make sure that you have unchecked the 'Use as default' box in Default and checked it in the named BOINC profile. That way you always have the default values available to return to while you can experiment with the named profiles. Lawrence |

Update:
----------------------------------------I setup the boinc profiles earlier today, but when I saw updates today it is still the wrong project. I just looked at the profiles and they are not saved as I had them. I select again and save, the site says it has been saved. I open the same profile and it has every project checked again, not just the ones I want. I have been through that cycle now 3-4 times with each profile. None have saved. what now? It may have something to do with Javascripting. Is that enabled/disabled in your browser? Also if u see Help Cure Muscular Dystrophy, de-select it as it is not available for BOINC, only on the WCG (UD agent). It may be the source of your problem.
----------------------------------------When i disable scripting on Firefox, in fact hitting save does not progress the page to the next one where it says it was saved. Don't know how IE responds to this. It may be unrelated, as i did install the Java run time for IE6/IE7 for as long as i can remember. This is the only help i could find in IE7 scripting: What should you do about Internet Explorer script errors? In most cases, you can ignore them. Script error messages are displayed by Internet Explorer when there is a problem with the Javascript or VBScript code on the website you are viewing. Occasionally a script error can be caused by an error in downloading a webpage, but more often it is an error in the webpage itself. To be sure it isn't an error in downloading, refresh the webpage by clicking the Refresh(F5) button . If the error persists, and you are not a developer testing a website, you should click No to ignore the error. To avoid script errors in the future, you can turn off script debugging in Internet Explorer. Script error debugging is turned off by default. If it has been turned on, follow these steps to turn it off again. To turn off script debugging in Internet Explorer In Internet Explorer, click the Tools button, and then click Internet Options. Click the Advanced tab. In the Settings list, under Browsing, select Disable Script Debugging (Internet Explorer) and Disable Script Debugging (Other), and then click OK. There are in the IE options, advanced tab a few options under the Microsoft VM section that might need selection. Java JIT compiler is on in mine. could be the wrong horse i'm betting on, but cant win them all :D

I will be detaching from this project. The whole reason I joined was to run the MS project. I did not see the notice that BOINC would not run this. thanks for the help sorry it was all for naught goodbye WCG |

Sorry aal, but if u change your mind install the WCG(UD) agent . I've been running HCMD it on the second core since the beginning of the project. When phase 2 starts in probably Sept.07, it will be on the BOINC platform as well. and run much longer.
