HPF2 graphics

Hello !

It would be really nice if the BOINC's graphics for HPF2 would better show when a checkpoint is complete.

I think it's possible because it's already the case for FAAH, with the green line becoming red each time a new folding begins.

Or else, why not use the very same graphics for HPF2 as in the UD release ?

Including this feature in a next release of the BOINC HPF2 application would be great !

Thanks.
Duanra.

PS : how long does it approximatively take for an HPF2 structure attempt to complete ? I didn't see this in the FAQ.

Re: HPF2 graphics

For immediate satisfaction, see "Project Checkpoint Saving" post in Start Here forum which includes description of a new BOINC 5.8.16 feature.

I think i saw discussion on the duration which is non-deterministic. Upgrade and follow message log to see them being recorded.... http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dl/boinc_5.8.16_windows_intelx86.exe

Re: HPF2 graphics

Thanks for the quick answer, Sekerob !

I shall just wait until the next stable release of BOINC and try what you described in the FAQ thread.

Yet I still think it would be great to "see" it in the graphics window.
But that's another matter.

Thanks anyway !

Duanra.

Re: HPF2 graphics

I think (but not positive), that the graphics was one of the daunting issues why HPF2 was so long on BOINC hiatus, whilst continuing to run without problem on the UD agent. Glad it works and personally i think the representation of the protein is superior in resolution to the one in UD. There is a standard design frame things need to fit in..... no space:

In case anyone is interested in the checkpoint logging under 5.8.16, this is what u get:
2-3-2007 0:29:55|World Community Grid|[checkpoint_debug] result faah1368_d116n672_x2BPW_00_2 checkpointed
2-3-2007 0:34:51|World Community Grid|[checkpoint_debug] result faah1368_d116n693_x2BPW_01_1 checkpointed
2-3-2007 0:46:48|World Community Grid|[checkpoint_debug] result faah1368_d116n693_x2BPW_01_1 checkpointed

BOINC Agent graphics

WCG(UD) Agent graphics, no checkpoint logging.

I agree - have BOINC running on my home PC and I think that the picture looks "cooler" than then UD version (and it moves more). I'm a dork - I like to see the stuff working. nerd

Re: HPF2 graphics

I also agree !
I just meant that the 3 graphs of UD on the left show more informations about the progress of the current structure and so the approximate time to checkpointing.
But as for now, I'm using Sekerob's method, and it works nice. smile
