Hi Diana,
I mainly run defeat cancer since I have personally suffered from it. However I juz learned today Help Defeat Cancer won't run with the 512MB Ram I installed for the machine, my mainly computer has 2 GB so i didn't notice this problem b4. Will upgrade the new machine to 1GB soon, b4 then it'll be running Human Proteomo Folding 2. btw I named the computer "Spirit of Hong Kong", since I'm from Hongkong and the people here are really hardworking, like my computer ![]() |

Hi man of Hong Kong
----------------------------------------Passed thru there in 2004... the days of hi anxiety over SARS.... awesome Airport and great train service back and forth to town. Now on the 935 at 4Ghz, seen that moniker before and noticed the drool dripping of the edges of posts discussing these processors (oh oh here is trouble, carl h would say). The System requirements vary. With BOINC you can make do with 750mb ram for HDC, but at 50-60 Euro for a 512mb ram strip (that's very rock bottom for Europe), u might get it much cheaper in HK. Presuming it's dual core, best is 1.5gb ram or more. Minimizes HD - VM swapping. Oh, and plz watch out for OCing.... they can cause faulty WU's if pushed to hard..... keep cool and collect take care

Yeah, think I'll go get a stick of 512 MB tomorrow. They're selling for about 30 euros here in Hongkong.
and thanks for the suggestion. I'll keep an eye on the condition of the machine, and may bring down the clockspeed a little cheers ![]() |
