Hi,
Any help is greatly appreciated. Three of us started within a new team the same day, a few days ago. One (me/I created the team) shows up with run time and points numbers. The other two have 0 for each. They have been running the past few days, pretty much non-stop, as I. Their laptops are above min specs. No tech issues related to their setup/signon. Is there anything I can have them check? Thank you for any pointers....Mike |

It may be too early to tell. There could be some delay, because normally 3 different computers have to complete the same workunit before points are assigned. Different subprojects may also have different submixes and ways of doing things. Some of us have 4-5 days of workunits in our queues, so it could also be a while before that workunit is sent in.
----------------------------------------All I can say right now is to keep things full and keep crunching. If nothing happens in another week, the techs might ask for some message logs, computer numbers, etc. to trace your activity. I was recently out of town for 10 full days, everything was sent in, the queues were down to nothing, and my computers were turned off for the duration. Points were being assigned for all of those days, due to these kinds of delays. All of the others out there had to complete their workunits also. date, runtime, points, results 02/19/2007 0:003:10:09:30 6,515 66 02/18/2007 0:002:04:11:57 4,283 42 02/17/2007 0:003:03:52:15 6,089 65 02/16/2007 0:002:03:34:47 4,435 55 02/15/2007 0:003:13:53:35 6,127 70 02/14/2007 0:003:21:27:25 7,983 91 02/13/2007 0:000:17:19:52 1,017 11 02/11/2007 0:000:01:08:46 102 1 02/08/2007 0:000:00:58:36 88 1 02/07/2007 0:000:09:02:26 194 2 02/06/2007 0:000:04:12:29 396 4 02/05/2007 0:003:02:41:42 5,280 59 02/04/2007 0:002:16:09:47 6,018 65 02/03/2007 0:002:09:09:35 5,271 51 It also took a few days to get back up to steady production again. er...ah....what team is it?

Ok, thanks for the tips, I appreciate that. Since my orig post, I do see another person on the team getting points and run time displayed, so thats just what you have pointed out. I'll watch for the 3rd, and thank you again.

Is it authorized to the WCG Technical Staff to initialize a support contact?
----------------------------------------I mean to contact a member without him/her first asking for support? There is somebody in the Decrypthon team who is currently and regularly increasing his/her count of results (s/he is in the top 25!) but points are still 0 and time is at 4mn and 36s!!! Looks like there is something weird that went unnoticed, or that the member does not feel able to report it. Can somebody help to avoid such waste of efforts? Cheers. Jean. |

WCG never initiates support mails. On occasion it will send a mail if a client has not returned a result for 3 months, when something 'suspect' is happening or for a newsletters. Latter only if the option was ticked in the member profile.
----------------------------------------Please see this post for the information we need to be able to investigate things like missing points in the My Grid statistics:

Too bad... That's what I had understood from reading other posts.
----------------------------------------Actually I do not know this member, I had only noticed it in the stats and the member name is the only thing I could give, but I did not want to highlight it more than with a (rather easy) indirect pointer in case s/he does not wish more publicity... Should I put this name here or would it be useless anyway? |

A feature on the 2007 wish list is for captains to be able to contact members (only if team member permits it in the profile). Part of that wishlist definition is for members to be able to contact the captain (again when the captain permits). All angles of privacy will be reviewed and re-reviewed and audited before something like that is added.
----------------------------------------If you have a team thread, leave a loud message.... who knows, one day will (s)he visit the forum.

Sekerob,
----------------------------------------Thank you for your patient and timely support. I understand every precaution taken regarding members' privacy, and I do not disagree. Unfortunately the Decrypthon team has no better home site than the project itself (that's the same one!...) and, sadly enough, communication is not their best skill. Therefore, no forum, no team thread to use there. And leaving "sleeping" posts with the member name here or there in the WCG forum would go against this privacy concern in my opinion, at least against its spirit. Therefore I think we have both done our best for the time being... 8-) Cheers. Jean. |

Something which would not infringe, is to see if this member has ever posted and put a reply in that thread. If the member put it on the 'watch list' in the forum profile, an email is send to that member! That's how one can check if the 'team thread' has new entries so that one can meet up if it so pleases.
----------------------------------------The emails do not go out every minute btw..... i get it 2x a day with a list of all the threads i'd like to be up to speed on. Added: Dropped a note to the techs as 4 months of work and no points is weird.

It's good to see you making sure that I have not overlooked any path to a solution. But I have started this story with a "search all forums" on this member name, with one more try on the same, but in the text this time. As you can guess from my posts the answer was a double "nothing found"...
----------------------------------------Bye. Jean. |
