smile Wrong UD Agent Runs

I've been crunching at Grid.org for several years but recently switched to WCG.org. I've uninstalled the UD Agent for Grid.org and deleted the associated folders, UD Tweaker, UD Monitor, etc. Then I downloaded the UD Agent for WCG, installed it and when it ran, the Grid.org UD Agent ran with the same scores for Grid.org.

I also tried the same on my other machine and the same thing happens. is there a hidden folder that calls up the grid.org's UD Agent that needs to be deleted?

Thanks in advance,

keiko01 smile

Re: Wrong UD Agent Runs

Have u set up exceptions in your security programs that point UD.exe to Grid.org websites and IP addresses?

When u installed WCG did it install to a folder called World Community Grid or United Devices?

I've got both agent in their separate folders on 1 machine and both fire up and look at the correct servers. When firing up Grid there is the blue pill in the systray, when firing up WCG, their logo shows up as an icon.

Re: Wrong UD Agent Runs

Thanks for the reply Sekerob. I've done everything you said and rebooted to refresh the memory. I let the WCG software install itself and it created UD Agent folders (on each computer). When the program initiated it's runs for the first time, the "Blue Pill" is displayed in the systray. crying

Re: Wrong UD Agent Runs

I would not be surprised if somehow u are downloading the grid.org version or firing it up from an old archive copy. It should automatically install to a World Community Grid folder and create that, not a UD folder. Here's a link to the real stuff. http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/bg/WorldCommunityGridAgent.exe

This is the correct download page:

Re: Wrong UD Agent Runs

that's strange, i think i remember a similar problem a long time ago when i switched from grid.org

i think i played rough by searching for any file or folder with 'grid' or 'ud' in it and just deleting them and then reinstalling WCG! smile

Re: Wrong UD Agent Runs

If someone does not fully uninstall the old agent and in particular leaves the old CS.UD file around, this will prevent the new agent from reaching the server. You should also delete the UD.exe file and UD.SCR in the windows directory. Then use a fresh copy of our download to reinstall.

If the prior install was some sort of test configuration, there may be some environment variables with "UD_" in their name and these should also be deleted.
