I looked at it ... and doubt it's for real. You're signing up to receive a product that isn't even available? Also, Google receives payment from the companies that advertise on their site ... Google does not pay people for visiting or using thier search engine! The company that is advertising (like the one I'm employed with) must pay Google for each "hit" our advertisment receives from people clicking on it. I believe we pay approximately $1.10 per click on our ad. Adds up pretty fast.
I would be concerned about handing over your personal information. A cross index of the information you provided could easily lead to any bills you pay on-line, which in turn could lead to even more bits of information about you that you never intended to be released ... banking information, drivers license, telephone number, and so forth. The other day I used switchboard.com to look-up by telephone number the displayed number on my company cell phone, after the caller had hung-up before I could answer. Switchboard found the number, and provided her name, address, driving directions ... from which I could easily start searching other public database files, available on-line. I've been a victim once so far ... someone used my social security identification number to purchase a diamond ring! The female used my social number, got a credit card, and bought herself a ring ... yes, it's that easy! I stopped throwing away credit card offers in the trash can at work ... I know shread them first. The only way I got everything resolved was to call the diamond store directly ... odd .... they actually took my work, called the credit agency on my behalf, and got me off the hook! While I'm thankful, it just seems strange to me how easy it was for a total stranger to get me into trouble, and another total stranger to get me out of trouble ... strange world we're living in these days. Anyway ... it sounds "too good to be true" and way too easy ... besides, there is a line or two about you being rewarded when you make a purchase! It would be nice to get paid for surfing the net, but that ad is a little too easy ... good luck. |

Really guys, we should not be linking to these 'for profit' websites. Will ask Nelsoc to have a look at the propriety of this in alignment with the forum rules. in particular this point: "# Please do not use World Community Grid forums for outside advertising or marketing of any kind "

......had you not used a link including your account I would tend to respond ....but since you did use your referrer # I believe you are not only in non-compliance with WCG but also in non-compliance with AGLOCO....
----------------------------------------FRom AGLOCO's Membership agreement: Members may not use Spam to Obtain Referrals. You must not use unsolicited email, usenet, message board postings or other similar methods of mass messaging ("Spam") to seek referrals. (Usenet and message board spam are messages sent or posted which are unrelated to the topic of discussion of the particular news group or message board or which are posted for the primary purpose of displaying your Member ID to solicit referrals.) The use of spam to promote AGLOCO™ or other services has strict negative consequences. You agree that AGLOCO™ may terminate your Membership or the Membership of any member who in AGLOCO™'s reasonable opinion has used unsolicited email to attempt to gain referrals (a "Spammer"). You further agree that AGLOCO™ will also sever the branch of the "referral tree" made up of all direct and extended referrals obtained by the Member using Spam. The branch accounts (those under the Spammer) will not be terminated, but no Member above the Spammer on the referral tree will benefit (i.e. receive credit) from them. In addition, You may be subject to state and federal penalties or other legal consequences under applicable law if You send unsolicited email. Our Anti-Spam Policy provides more details and is incorporated into this Agreement. You agree that We may publish your Member ID if your account is terminated for spam or other breach of this Membership Agreement. ....Perhaps AGLOCO would like to see this ![]() ![]() |
