if u use boinc, then go to the site of WorldCommunityGrid, login en go to "my grid", then you'll see a menu in the left of your screen, so click on "Device Manager".
----------------------------------------you'll see which of you're devices use which program to crunch: here boinc! and you'll see which profile is selected for your device so click on it's profile! (mostly it's called "default") scroll down and change this textbox-> "Connect to network about every ...choose how long there has to be workunits in queu downloaded days" hopefully you'll understand... On that note, please make sure your computer returns the results PRIOR to the 7x24 hours deadline or they will be marked on the BOINC servers as 'No Reply' and extra copies will be send to other computers. Big waste of time.
----------------------------------------Since work units are not send in larger batches than 10 and with a 10 minute interruption per batch, you have to stay on line for a longer period in order to get enough work. There is a daily download limit of 30 work units per core (subject to change, pending update request). Make also sure to consider periods when the computer is not processing / switched off. That determines how much work you will get. Recommendation is to not set the 'Connect To' time to a value higher than 5 days. Alternate is to use UD(WCG) agent in combination with the unsupported UD_Monitor, a third party buffering utility. The Deadline for UD work is 3 weeks. Plenty time, but only processes work one at the time. cheers

To add to previous post, the FightAIDS@Home jobs are generally 3 x as long as any other work, thus selecting this as your only project in your device profile gives best chance of getting enough work (30x6-8 CPU hours is 180-240 hours of work buffer). There has never been a shortage of these. They are also relatively small to download. Help Defeat Cancer takes e.g. 4-5mb each. Makes a big difference on dial-up
