Why do you want to "tweak" BOINC? It is generally frowned upon to use optimised clients. Just use the OS X version from the BOINC website:

http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download.php

It works just fine wink

Re: Any Mac users in here

I have a number of Macs attached to WCG. Check my sig for details.
No real way to tweak Macs, if you mean OC.

Also, there are no optimized applications for WCG projects.

There are "superbench" BOINC clients. But be warned, WCG will cut your points to half of what they would normally be, if the claimed amount is too large.

Generally, PPC Macs get crappy production with WCG. sad If you are looking to maximize your Mac credits (both PPC and Intel), I suggest you move them to SETI, and use alexkan's amazing optimized application. You will realize 150-200% crunching, and the points that go along with it.

Wasn't sure if there any treaks or not so thought I would ask. New to this. Is there any way to get more jobs to do so it can process them and only connect to the net once a day? tnks

Bearcat, you can adjust your preferences on this website, under My Grid -> Device Manager.

In particular, you can change the "connect to network" setting to about a day. There are lots of other settings there, too.

Re: Any Mac users in here

Hello Bearcat,
New to this. Is there any way to get more jobs to do so it can process them and only connect to the net once a day?

Yes. In the profile you specify 'connect time'. By default, you connect to the server only once every 0.1 day (2.4 hours). Therefore, you will draw enough work units to crunch for at least 2.4 hours. Normally that is 1 work unit. But if you change the connect time to 1 or 2 days, you will draw many more work units each time you connect.

The scheduling algorithm is complicated and hard to understand. My advice is not to draw more than 2 days at a time unless you really need to, at least until you become more familiar with BOINC.

Re: Any Mac users in here

Thanks for the replies. Been looking at my profile and changing a few settings to see what happens. Now I have to figure out how to set my mac to turn on the airport at a specific time to do the exchange and turn off when completed. Anyone know how to do this?

I have had as many as 5 attached, but am currently running 3 of them for WCG (among other projects). A G5 iMac, a Quad G5, and a Core Duo MacBook Pro.

I moved my two G4 machines to SETI@home exclusively, since their production here was so poor comparatively.

I also have 10 windows machines currently attached to WCG (and other projects as well).

Re: Any Mac users in here

Curious on how the quad does on these projects. I almost bought one but clad I didn't. Waiting on the 4 core (per chip) mac pro to come out. Thought about getting a few mac minis and networking them but not sure yet. My iMac 24 inch seems to do a pretty good job. Do you have each machine connect to report results or are you networked to have one computer report all work done?
