Hello,
I have setup an account for the BOINC account manager (BAM) - I want to configure the percentage of cpu time BOINC uses... (The UD agent doesn't seem to be able to be configured...) The URL for this site is http://www.boincstats.com/bam/ I then try to configure the the BOINC manager using Tools->Account Manager I put the above URL in the dialogue box when prompted for Account Manager URL, and get the following message: "The URL you selected is not that of a BOINC-based account manager" The Messages tab shows a communication to http://www.boincstats.com/bam/get_project_config.php Which I can see with a web browser, to the page exists... So the question I have is what am I doing wrong (what is the URL I should type into the box...)? Many thanks for any help, David! I have looked at the help pages and scanned this forum, and cannot find out |

Wait....I thought WCG did not support BAM (yet). BAM is only partially supported. I don't know if what David_c_k_m is trying to do is supported or not. |

WCG only has partial Account Manager support.

WCG only has partial Account Manager support. Perhaps it would be good to define and publish what is, and is not supported. That way we don't have to guess. Also, having it posted someplace would help. Discussion forums are a lousy place to look for FAQs. Too much noise, too little signal. ![]() |

Been using the BAM site as the only place to maintain the general preferences, since whatever project site u change them, they apply to all projects. That site usually has the latest greatest in options, thus reducing the need for manually changing the general prefs override file when using alpha's/beta's.

?? BAM is great. However, WCG does not support all BAM settings.

Account Managers are kind of new. The WCG systems are more complicated than the average BOINC project, so they couldn't just upgrade like other projects did.
The whole Account Manager system is still changing and developing rapidly, so perhaps WCG are wise to leave it alone for now. We'll keep you updated. |

That's correct, Because WCG officially recommend BOINC 5.4.9/5.4.11. When the time is there for 5.8 announcement, things will fall in place.... hence using BAM allows one to universally apply the new alpha/beta General Preferences features for ALL projects.
