Does anybody have an idea, why there are problems running the Agent on Win 2k Server and Sybase SQL Anywhere V5.0 Server? After installing the Agent, the Sybase Server when getting user-loaded, faces some critical problem, dumps the memory contents (ugh, quite lenghty process), recovers and cleares/recreates the very own system tables. Unfortunately, these contain also the application (which uses Sybase server) registration info. Quite a lot of work for the admin .
Any advice? |

The agent shouldn't interfere CPU-wise, but it does (currently) allocate 200MB of RAM. Do you have a large enough paging file?

Thank you for fast reply and hint. I will check, even if it does not seem so. The server has 1GB RAM total, out of which is 256MB allocated for the Sybase cache, paging space available is 4GB. The event logs do not show anything unusual. On all other machines it runs flawless, so I plan to distribute the Agent more widely, and I hope I will resolve the server issue, too. Maybe it is just unlucky coincidence and the error was not primarily caused by the Agent...

Let's hope that this problem never recurs, leaving us to puzzle over the Marie Celeste case and the Win 2K Server caper. But even if it does not, could you drop us a reassuring note sometime? You can always find your past posts by clicking on SEARCH in the top Forum Bar, then entering your handle CZZ51013 in the 'By Member Name' field, then clicking 'Search' below it. This is an easy way to find aged threads without conducting a long search.

Absolutely, I will. I will be able to test it more through after Christmas.
Thank you for advice! |

Hello Lawrence (or anybody, who reads this),
I checked the dumps, logs and whatever I could. There is no evidence whatsoever that the Agent was the cause of the problem I faced. In fact, I think it turns into a Mary Celeste case, unfortunately. But anyhow, the task is running and no problems are reported since the last accident, if I can even call it so. I would like to thank you for your your fast reaction and support, to the entire team of developers for an excellent piece of work, and with wishes of Merry Christmas and and happy New Year 2005 I remain Sincerelly Yours Jan |
