Happy Thanksgiving JC and all the rest of our American friends
 Now I have a question for you. Why is the Canadian Thanksgiving held before the American one? A) Because all our turkeys fly south for the winter? B) So we can plant news ones for Christmas? C) Because we need all our turkeys in the winter to play hockey? D) The first Thanksgiving was held in 1578 in what is now the province of Newfoundland and Labrador by Martin Frobisher to give thanks for surviving the long voyage across the ocean? And the answer is ....... |

Our turkeys do go south for the winter, we call them snow birds. We tried to plant new ones for Christmas but we have too much snow to dig them up. Our turkeys do play hockey .. aaahh never mind we still won't win! D)The history of Thanksgiving in Canada goes back to an explorer, Martin Frobisher, who had been trying to find a northern passage to the Orient. In the year 1578, he held a formal ceremony, in what is now the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, to give thanks for surviving the long journey. This is considered the first Canadian Thanksgiving, and the first Thanksgiving to have taken place in North America. Frobisher was later knighted and had an inlet of the Atlantic Ocean in northern Canada named after him — Frobisher Bay now known as Iqaluit. At the same time, French settlers, having crossed the ocean and arrived in Canada with explorer Samuel de Champlain, also held huge feasts of thanks. They even formed 'The Order of Good Cheer' and gladly shared their food with their First Nations neighbours. Happy Thanksgiving Andraxians!  (don't have a turkey) |

Ahhh.....
It was only gonig to take a little time before we started kicking ... again, JC!!! Stats are moving. I have decided that fixing something that isn't broken is counterproductive... so my little cruncher will continue being just what it is! We had some great eatin this week, and now, carcass soup is being made! P.S. Did you like the Discovery pics?!   |
