Re: cool cool cool cool "Team WCG" - Our first millennium of PC time completed cool cool cool cool

We have a long way to go on this project.

It was conjectured a 1000 node commercial linux machine would take 50 years to survey the entire Human Genome. This effort is going for a year, starting from Nov. 16 2004.

Team: Global Community

Ok, that's good info. 1000 nodes times 50 years is 50,000 node-years. We're at 2000 node years after two months - 1000 node-years per month. So about 50 months at the current rate.

Yesterday, we completed 60 node-years. If we could hold that pace, that would cut the time down to 16 more months.

Hmmm. We need more CPU's involved.
