What a miserable lot you are sad

Do I have to reply to my own post so it doesn't disappear into obscurity?

Hello

We, that's all of us, hence "Team WCG", have just completed over a thousand years of processing in the month since the project was first launched. Going from scratch to 31065 members in 30 days!

I think that's worth celebrating, a news worthy fact.

If anyone else thinks so please could you add your thoughts so that this post remains the first thing seen when members log into the Team Page.

At least for today, come on you know you want to, place your hands on the keyboard and just press those buttons - simple, even I can do it!

Thanks for bringing it to our attention Dave! Although we watch our individual and team statistics, you are right, and we are also one WCG Team. Now let's see how fast we can finish that NEXT millenium!

Re: cool cool cool cool "Team WCG" - Our first millennium of PC time completed cool cool cool cool

Dave --

Today marks my first month of participation with the WCG and I am also amazed at how much participation has been generated in that short time. Not only has there been over a millennium of PC time donated, the numbers of us continue to grow. This morning there are 31,522 of us. While the growth in numbers isn't as spectacular as it was a month ago when there was the big media splash, there is still a small, steady daily growth. This can only be because members of the WCG worldwide team are spreading the word of its value to mankind. A recent news item highlighted this to me. It can be read in its entirety at http://www.advocate.com/new_news.asp?ID=14610&sd=12/16/04 . It discusses how scientists at Rutgers may be on the verge of a drug that will destroy HIV. They have found a submicroscopic protien that mimics the way the HIV virus changes shape. WOW! That sure seems to be in line with the project upon which we WCG members are now working!

Thanks for posting to keep this link at the top.

Here's another way to put it if Ethelred the Unready (Dark Age King of England) turned a Athlon XP 2700+ powered PC on just after his birth and that PC was left on for 24 hours a day until now, that would be the amount of processing that has been contributed to the WCG in 1 single calendar month.

I have to confess I used Encarta to find this probably useless info out but those time lines come in really handy. If you would like to know more about old Ethelred follow this link. http://www.britannia.com/history/monarchs/mon14.html

Keep Crunching I think we will get back to the time of the birth of Jesus in less than 21 days.

Looks as if we're half way to the next millennium. Soon after reaching that milestone, we will also hit one million 'results'.

I can't figure out whether there's an upper bound on the number of results; will this ever be 'finished' and we move onto the next project, or do we still have a long way to go with this one?
