Am I paying closer attention, or are the work units getting really big? I have one waiting to be worked on now which has a projected completion of over 24 hours! The one working now is a 19 hour job.
Seems to me they used to be pretty uniformly clustered around 9 hours. Something change? |

Hi,
----------------------------------------Which project.... FAAH, GC, HDC ?. Some of the HDC have been long, but not as long a FAAH. How is the actual CPU time, as sometimes the projected time goes wild, particular if u switch between short (GC) and long jobs (FAAH). If it going faster than projected, the time will adjust. cheers

A small problem with the GC size estimation is likely to cause work units from other WCG projects to be over estimated.

I've noticed the latest FAAH units are taking longer at my end - up from 6-7 hours to 10-11 hours.

Ady,
----------------------------------------It's important to qualify as we never know if it's UD agent which counts Wall-clock time or BOiNC. We (the CA's), don't have a 'cheat' sheets to know which agent each member uses. In the case of UD aka WCG agent (which should be version 4.0.3.6 presently in the graphic screen), it could mean another process might be stealing time. That said, u are the second or 3rd member reporting extra long FA@H.... I'll force one to come to my machine, to see if it does so in this series.... hope it got enough segments/checkpoints ;>) cheers

Thanks for the replies.
These jobs are faah jobs. They're running somewhat shorter than the length of time projected. For example, this morning when I sorta freaked out a bit , the 19 hour job took 13 hours. Even so, 13 hours is a long time for one work unit.Right now, the job that was estimated to be 24 hours is 2:22 in, 10% completed, with 20:58 remaining. So, it's shrinking. Just seemed odd that suddenly the 6-8hr jobs were gone and everything was targetted for the better part of a day. I'll go back to being oblivious... let the computer just crunch away. |

Sek,
I'm using BOINC 5.4.9 - sorry for not specifying earlier Yep, the latest FAAH jobs are definately taking about 30-40% longer to complete at my end - seems to be the faah091x units mainly. Nothing to worry about though - they still gotta be crunched ![]() |

I'm also using BOINC 5.4.9. The WUs that are so big are all faah 5.28 and contain _x1AJX_ in the third section of the file name.
(New around here... don't know the lingo.) |
