I agree with Suguruhirahara, a graphic helps beginners understand what the science application is doing. An animated GIF is an excellent compromise, I like it. If the animation is made long enough then most users will never realise it's the same sequence repeating over and over.

Seeing the real graphics will not add more to a beginner's understanding than the animated GIF adds to her/his understanding. Therefore I would like to see an adjustment to the method for bringing up the real graphics. If we could require the user to simutaneously depress keys CTRL, Q, ?, ~, F12, SHIFT, F5, G, 4, 7 and the DEL key on the Number Pad then it would rate a "PERFECT 10" rather than just excellent.

There is no fixed timescale either for BOINC graphics or for the BOINC Simplified User Interface.

That said, the WCG staff aren't exactly sitting around twiddling their thumbs. Expect both fairly soon.

While I agree that that anything that makes it easier for beginners to use BOINC is good, at first impression this does'nt impress me much as a serious client interface.

At second thought, I doubt it was designed to be one, but rather an easier introduction to the depths of BIONC. Which makes a nice change from being thrown in head first in the deep end, I suppose.
